2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the anticipated over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a clearer direction.
The president stated that the developers is now refining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to better meet player expectations.

The news echoes a similar move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

The upcoming game was unveiled in October 2024 in conjunction with a public demo. Initially, 31st Union portrayed the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an innovative evolution on the genre."
